Esau Andrade Valencia

 

BIO

Esau Andrade was born in Tepic Nayarit, Mexico in 1963. He comes from a folk art background. Although largely self-taught, he attended La Escuela de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad de Guadalajara (School of Fine Arts at Gudalajara University). 

The lush color and composition in his paintings show his connections to folk art while fantastic elements such as flying angels, link his style to magic realism. 

He has exhibited both individual and collective exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, in places like Talent Gallery (Mexico City), Galeria des Artistes (Puerto Vallarta), Gallery One (Puerto Vallarta), Chac Mool Gallery (Los Angeles, CA.) Louis Stern Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Glass Garage Fine Art Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Hamilton Gallery (Los Angeles, CA ), Iturralde Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Tatewari Gallery (Sedona, Arizona), Euroamerican Gallery (New York, New York), Casa Vallarta, Universidad De Guadalajara (Guadalajara Jalisco), Hamilton Gallery (Santa Monica, California), ICBC (Tijuana, BC), The Downey Museum of Art (Downey, CA), San Antonio International Airport (San Antonio, Texas), The Museum of Latin American Art (Long Beach, CA), Allene Lapides Gallery (Santa Fe, New Mexico), Turner Carroll Gallery (Santa Fe, New Mexico), Consulate General of Mexico (Los Angeles, CA), Miami Art Fair, Art Fair Seattle, and more.

He has published in several literary magazines and in the collective book "Arbor, Literature Young Jalisco" Posted by Dep. de Bellas Artes de Jalisco 1984. Has also illustrated the books: "Denied the Night” Published by the Department of Fine Arts in Jalisco 1984 "Where Words Dream” Edited by "Hundred Ways"  & "Art Talent Visual 2006." Perfect Season for Dreaming "Edited by five points, 2008”
