BIO

Magda has been an artist at heart all her life. Having an architect as a father while growing up in the metropolis of Warsaw, Poland, greatly impacted her creative pursuits. After studying architecture herself, she realized that drawing and painting were natural and enjoyable for her.

Being a first-generation immigrant, she devoted her first years in the U.S. to assimilating into American life. After moving to Gold Beach, Oregon in 1993, she began to paint professionally. A dream materialized soon afterwards, when she also opened her own gallery and working studio in 1995.

After living in California, Maine, and Minnesota, she found Gold Beach, Oregon, to be very peaceful in comparison. The rugged coastal landscapes of the ocean, the mountains, and the deep forests are the inspirations for almost all of her art.

In her paintings she tries to capture a specific moment in time through her perspective of the beauty of nature. Sometimes she uses soft pastel colors and other times she uses bright, almost unreal colors to achieve a very strong contrast between light and shadow. Her goal is to portray on paper and canvas the wetness of the rain, the thickness of the fog, and the heat of a sunny day. She wishes for her audience to be able to smell the fragrant ocean breeze and the wild meadow.

She uses numerous media including watercolor paints, acrylics, oils, and pastels.
