Fine Art, Magical Realism Folk Art
Esau Andrade was born in Tepic Nayarit, Mexico in 1963 and has a rich background in folk art. Although largely self-taught, he attended La Escuela de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad de Guadalajara (School of Fine Arts at Guadalajara University). His acrylic paintings are characterized by lush colors and compositions that reflect his connections to folk art, while fantastic elements like flying angels link his style to magic realism.
Esau has showcased his fine art in both individual and collective exhibitions across Mexico and internationally, including notable art galleries such as Talent Gallery (Mexico City), Galeria des Artistes (Puerto Vallarta), and various prestigious venues in Los Angeles, CA, such as Chac Mool Gallery and Louis Stern Gallery. His work has also appeared in exhibitions at The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, CA, and during events like the Miami Art Fair and Art Fair Seattle.
His oil paintings and other artworks are part of collections in significant institutions, including The Museum of Latin American Art and the School District of Pomona (Pomona, CA). Additionally, Esau Andrade has contributed to several literary magazines and illustrated noteworthy books, including "Denied the Night” published by the Department of Fine Arts in Jalisco in 1984 and "Perfect Season for Dreaming" edited by Five Points in 2008.
